Last post of 2010
Wow, time has sure flown by! Hard to believe its New Years Eve. The last night of 2010. Praying the new year brings blessings to all!
We had a wonderful family Christmas at my house this year. My house was literally bursting with 35 people. I was very busy in the kitchen cooking for all those family members. And I even managed to make several door prizes for the evening including this Christmas wall hanging, which my oldest daughter from Chester, NE. won! And a Snowman Table Runner for a ladies gift exchange, which my oldest sister Bonnie got!
This last week, I tried to get caught up on all the quilty things that needed to be finished before the new year. Happy Blocks due girls in Stashbuilder's group, and Dec. blocks for the three block swap groups I am in. Getting fabrics ready for another string block swap, and blocks made for a Bullseye block swap as well.
I am also awaiting January 10th. to get here. That's when I get to see Quiltville's own Bonnie Hunter in person at the Lincoln Quilters Guild. It is going to be so exciting!!
Everyone have a safe and blessed New Year!!

Its been way too long since I've posted last!
I'm back!
I apologize for not posting for so long. For about six weeks, i just didn't have the heart to want to quilt, and since this blog evolves around quilting I sure didn't have much to post anyway. Tammy's passing just was very hard on me. And I couldn't believe how it affected my sewing.
But, I had so many projects to catch up on. Blocks for swaps to make, quilts to make for Kids For Quilts, and fabric kits to cut. So I finally just made myself go into my sewing room and make a block!
Before long, the feeling that drives my quilting soul to sew had returned. Now, to attack the very long overdue stack of projects waiting in my "To Do" basket!
In the middle of October, I still had August Happies to make, several blocks due to girls in several groups, and I felt so bad that I was behind.
I am now caught up on all blocks due to block swap groups, and about 3/4 of the way through the pile of Aug. Happy Blocks.
I will try to post pics of the completed ones soon!

Stashbuilders July 2010 String Block Swap
Tuesday, July 20, 2010
Wow, what a long week!
Sorry for being MIA, but at our house a viral bug hit us hard, and we were all very sick.
Unfortunately when Momma is sick too, the picture isn't too pretty. So, been behind on some things like housework, laundry, and of course quilting too.
I did manage to get a few blocks done for swaps, but not as many as should be done. Now, that I am feeling better, I got to get busy!
Yesterday, I was able to get out and get to my local quilt shop Cosmic Cow. I was on a quest to find "R" fabric for the "ABC" swap for StashBuilders. But, of course, had to browse for the common good of my quilting stash too! I did find a cute rick rack print that was also formed in a rainbow of seven bright colors! So will work great, "Rainbow" or "Rick Rack"! Found a couple really cute fabrics for next month's "Happy Block Swap" as well.
While I was there I left a flyer for the Kids For Quilts Chapter! Hoping to get some responses for volunteers or donations of fabric!

It's Official, I'm now the leader of a brand new sister chapter of Quilts For Kids
I got word today, that they approved me for starting up a sister chapter of Quilts For Kids here in Lincoln, NE.!!! How exciting, now, any quilts that I or the volunteer quilters of the chapter make, will be able to be donated to our own local hospitals, including Children's in Omaha.
So, if anyone has any items they would like to donate to the chapter,(fabric, batting, binding, thread,a monetary donation to purchase needed supplies, etc) to help us make quilts, that are distributed to children in hospitals, shelters, etc. let me know, by emailing me at lincolnnequiltforkids@gmail.com
It's been a long day for me, so I am going to try to get to bed early tonight. My son was very sick with some type of virus today, and I ended up doing lots and lots of extra cleaning, besides making all my Happy Blocks, the regular cleaning, etc. And in the morning, bright and early, we have to go get Jacob's wheelchair re-adjusted, he has grown so much, his legs don't fit in the feet pedals right anymore.

Barb's Happy Blocks For July 2010
Happy Blocks!
This last week was very exciting, but hectic also. My daughter and her family moved back home to Lincoln! So spent some much needed catching up time with them last week!
For July quilting projects, my To Do list is lengthy, but some fun things are in the making. My StashBuilders group, is doing a Happy Block swap. I am doing (2) 4" sets, and (1) 6.5" set. The 4" sets each have five swappers, including me. And the 6.5" set has four swappers including me. So, for the 4" Happies, I sent out 40 4" center squares, and will get back 40 finished 8" Happy Blocks! For the 6.5" Happies,I sent out 18 6.5" center squares, and will get back 18 finished 10.5" Happy Blocks! Friday, and again today, I got Teresa's set done, and Barb's two sets!

Purple Passion's Progress
Since I finished all the blocks due for exchanges, and the Fish Quilt, this past several days have worked on the Purple Passion Quilt. I got several more rows done, and all sewed together! Still have a couple more rows to go, then to start on the borders!
From This: One Row
To This: Three Rows!
Close up of blocks!
From this angle, you can see the pattern of diaganol rows, made by the purple blocks.
And here, in this view, you can see the pattern of diaganol rows, made by the white blocks.
